Donga dispute at Woodside's Pluto project triggers strike
Workers have downed tools at Woodside Petroleum's 12 billion dollar Pluto LNG project
near Karratha in Western Australia in protest against new housing arrangements.
JOE MCDONALD of the Construction .. Forestry .. Mining and Energy Union says up to
18 hundred members voted in favour of 48 hours of industrial action at a meeting last
night.
He says workers are angry they'll no longer have permanent lodgings .. rather they'll
have to pack up their belongings and move at the end of a four-week shift.
He says it's ironic that Premier COLIN BARNETT has just launched a program to make
the resources-rich Pilbara a more attractive place to live and work in.
