WA: Drizzle dampens flames in South West

Overnight drizzle has dampened bushfires blazing in forests near scenic Walpole inthe south of Western Australia.

The bushfires have been burning through karri and jarrah forest since being sparkedby lightning strikes three days ago.

A spokesman for the Department of Conservation and Land Management says boggy conditionsdue to tea tree swamps are hampering access for crews and machinery.

He says the Quindinillup forest blaze has been contained, while drizzle has dampenedthe blaze at the inaccessible Soho block.

Despite the light showers, there are still concerns for the blaze at Northumberland.
