WESTERN PROVINCE are facing a big problem in the front row after young loosehead prop Steven Kitshoff was ruled out of Saturday's Currie Cup clash against the Cheetahs at Newlands with a knee injury.
The 19-year-old Kitshoff got hurt just before halftime during the weekend's 28-20 loss to the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld, and was replaced by Frans Malherbe.
Malherbe is primarily a tighthead prop, which saw Brok Harris move over to the left side of the scrum. But he has never convinced at loosehead before, and with Wicus Blaauw also out for the season, WP coach Allister Coetzee told the Cape Times yesterday that he is likely to call on JD Moller.
