WA: Expo plumbs depths of bad taste

Organisers of a plumbing expo say they are seeking albinos, dwarves and fat peopleto entertain patrons in sideshow-alley style freak show.

The ad in Saturday's West Australian newspaper has shocked and outraged disability groups.

West Australian plumbing supplies company Tradelink has advertised for performers forwhat they call a 1900s-style freak-show gallery at the trade show in June.

Three people have answered the ad, including a 36-year-old woman calling herself SHAZ,who claims to be the most heavily-tattooed woman in Western Australia.

Tradelink says the sideshow idea is to bring some fun to the expo expected to attractabout 1,500 builders, architects and plumbers.

But KAYE REGAN from People With Disabilities says terminology is extremely importantto people with disabilities and her organisation is outraged at the concept.
